The Mizuno JPX825 Pro irons could be the way forward for low to mid handicappers who want feel combined with a decent level of forgiveness.

The previous JPX800 Pro did a lot of this but some of the heads got a little compact in the longer irons. With the Mizuno JPX825 Pro irons the head size seems a little more generous and the longer irons are very welcoming to hit.

The deep cavity is very well hidden and gives a lot of forgiveness for this style of iron Mizuno say that the 825 Pro is a little firmer than the previous model thanks to a new cavity frame, but the thinner face makes up for this and there are no complaints from us.

The bevelling on the front and back of the sole not only looks good, but allows the wider sole to behave more link a thinner blade sole as there is less of it in contact with the turf. The nice large head size looked great at address without screaming forgiveness. They look more like a better player iron, but with the technology 'under the hood' to offer help on off-centre strikes.

Many companies are making strides in this category of iron, but with the JPX825 Pro we think Mizuno have got the balance just right.
