If you're somebody who has been playing golf for quite some time, or you really know your golf equipment, then you're bound to remember the iconic Zebra putters of the late 20th Century as they were used to major championship success.
First introduced in 1976, the Zebra featured a mallet head with instantly recognisable striped alignment on the crown, and was used by Ray Floyd to win The Masters. 18 years later, Nick Price captured the Claret Jug with a Zebra in the bag at Turnberry.
The brand are now back for 2022, under the new ownership of Golf Brands Inc, and looking to reclaim some of its previous glory with four new models made with high quality components and performance-enhancing design.
As well as the striped alignment system, each model also features a grooved face insert to control friction at impact, producing a consistent roll right across the face.
Each model features adjustable weighting technology, with weights located in the sole which can be switched out to change the head weight to suit each golfer's stroke.
Zebra AIT1 Putter (£179.99)
This is the model that is most reminiscent of the original Zebra design from the 1970s, and is an oversized face-balanced mallet that is designed to raise MOI and give you more forgiveness.
There is a horseshoe shaped soleplate to lower the CG, which combines with 15g weights in the toe and heel to create plenty of stability at impact.
Zebra AIT2 Putter (£179.99)
A classic fang design which has the weight pushed to the perimeter in order to boost MOI for greater forgiveness and a smoother roll, getting you starting the ball on-line more often and improving distance control.
Zebra AIT3 Putter (£199.99)
The AIT3 is a high-MOI mallet model, designed specifically to enhance forgiveness. Four weight ports on the sole are placed forward and outwards, delivering high MOI while maximising balance.
Zebra AIT4 Putter (£159.99)
Designed for golfers who prefer the look and feel of a blade, the AIT4 is a wide-body, heel-toe putter which provides the forgiveness of a mallet but with the compact look of a blade. The insert design has saved weight which allows more mass to be located in the toe and heel, providing extra forgiveness.
Available now, the 2022 Zebra putters are fitted with a Winn midsized pistol grip as standard, and are available in 33, 34 and 35 inch lengths.
