Following the success of last year’s series, Wilson returned with a second installment of the Driver vs Driver TV programme, which pits amateur golf club designers against each other in a battle to win $250,000 and the chance to have their design brought to market. Last year the result was the Wilson Staff Triton, and the 2018 winner was recently crowned as Evan Hoffman from San Diego, who has given us the Wilson Staff Cortex Driver.

Wilson say that the Cortex is the most adjustable driver that they have ever offered, to provide golfers with the chance of experiencing as much forgiveness and control from the tee as possible. This is generated through the use of a titanium head with carbon panels, along with both sliding and interchangeable weights so that golfers can really get dialed in to their specific needs.

Tim Clarke, President of Wilson Golf, commented:
Season Two of the show produced two amazing finalists, the Cortex and the Rozwell. Ultimately, the Cortex came out on top with its clean, classic shape, overall consistent performance results from a wide range of player testers and steady sound across the entire face of the club. We are excited to get this driver into the hands of players at all levels of the game.
The Cortex driver features Fast Cage Technology, an internal titanium structure which has 44% of its surface area covered in Carbon Fibre Panelling, allowing for precise weight distribution and allows for the adjustable weighting to be utilised without making the head too heavy.

The driver also exhibits the longest sliding weight track that Wilson has produced, with an 8g sliding weight allowing golfers to tune the club to achieve their own optimal spin rate and ball flight numbers.

Fast Fit Technology on the Cortex’s hosel offers six different adjustable options where the loft can be moved in half-degree increments, and is also compatible with shafts from previous Wilson drivers.

The Cortex comes complete with a choice of the premium Fujikura Atmos Tour Spec shafts. The red model is for highest launch, blue is for medium, and black for lowest, providing versatile options for golfers of all abilities.

Available from November, the Cortex drivers come with an RRP of £399.
