Using his prototype Scotty Cameron Circa 62 putter, Jason Dufner tapped in a short putt to win the 2013 PGA Championship and can now call himself a major champion.
Dufner, who came so close to the PGA Championship, losing in a playoff in 2011, held his nerve and his share of putts on Sunday to finish 2 shots clear of Jim Furyk.
His putter wasn't the only Titleist prototype in his bag however. Dufner was using the new Titleist 714 AP2 prototype irons.
It was just the second week the American had used the new irons, having used them at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational where he finished T4th the week before the PGA Championship.
Whilst he has made the switch the latest irons on the Tour van, Dufner has stuck with his Titleist 910 D2 driver for several seasons now, set at 9.5 degrees with a Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana ‘ahina 60X shaft.
He has recently upgraded his fairway woods and hybrids, choosing to play two Titleist 913 fairway woods (13.5-degree 913F and an 18-degree 913Fd, both with Aldila VS Proto 70X shafts) as well as a 19-degree Titleist 913H hybrid, fitted with a heavier version of his driver shaft in the form of the Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana ‘ilima 80X shaft.
Dufner currently uses three wedges: the pitching wedge from his AP2 prototype set and two different Vokey models. His sand wedge is a 54-degree Titleist Vokey Design SM4 wedge with 14 degrees of bounce, whilst his 60-degree lob wedge is a Titleist TVD K-Grind wedge with 8 degrees of bounce.
Not Dufner's actual set, this is the set we have been testing as part of Titleist's Tour seeding process.
As mentioned above, Dufner holed his major-winning putt with a Titleist Scotty Cameron Circa 62 GSS #6 putter. For those of you with a sharp eye, you may have noticed Dufner had recently been using the Titleist Scotty Cameron Futura X Mallet putter (of Adam Scott fame), as recently as The Open Championship four weeks ago.
He switched back to the prototype look he has used before, along with his new irons, the week prior the final major of the year.
As many of you probably noticed, Dufner has an oversized grip on his putter. The SuperStroke Slim 3.0 grip has been used by Dufner over the past 3 seasons. Click on the link below to see what we thought when we tested the oversized, non-tapered grip design.
Other than the prototype irons, and prototype Scotty Cameron putter, the rest of Dufner's set are available to the public:
