Golf club manufacturers have been talking about building carbon into their golf clubs a lot over the last 15 years. Roll on to 2022 and you're going to hear one manufacturer in particular talking about it a whole lot more. The manufacturer in question is of course TaylorMade.

TaylorMade Stealth Fwy & Hybrids

Carbon is the new buzzword and design thread across the entire Stealth product line. From the new [TaylorMade Stealth drivers] from drivers to fairways and hybrids. This is what TaylorMade is claiming makes them an unmistakeable family in pursuit of offering golfers: faster ball speeds, high MOI performance and precision playability.

TaylorMade Stealth Fwy & Hybrids

Today see's the launch of their new Stealth range of golf equipment which includes the new Stealth fairways and hybrids, and like previous years with the new latest SIM2 range, there are two new fairway woods and two new hybrids aimed at golfers of different tastes and abilities.

TaylorMade Stealth Fairway Woods

Stealth Plus+ Fairway Wood

The Stealth Plus fairway features ZATECH titanium, previously seen in the SIM2 Titanium Fairway which is made using a unique process that allows engineers to improve the strength of the face and still maintain a high level of ductility. This is an ultra-thin material that is flexible and therefore promotes fast ball speeds.

TaylorMade Stealth Fwy & Hybrids

A new innovation in the Stealth fairway woods is an all-new infinity edge carbon crown which creates a 12% larger carbon surface area compared to the SIM2 Titanium fairways, which allows the redistribution of more weight lower in the clubhead.

Mass from the heavy 80g V Steel™ sole has been re-engineered for forgiveness while maintaining its core purpose of improving turf interaction and versatility.

TaylorMade Stealth Fwy & Hybrids

Further improvements from the SIM2 to Stealth Plus come in the form of 12% more MOI that SIM2 and 18% higher than the original SIM titanium fairway. Overall, TaylorMade are claiming that the Stealth Plus fairways has the lowest CG ever in an adjustable TaylorMade fairway.

With a refined 175cc profile the Stealth Plus fairway may look quite small to some golfers however the address area of Stealth Plus is only 2% larger than SIM2 to maintain versatility and the face area is 12% larger to provide improved performance on off-centre hits.

Stealth Plus has an RRP of £349 / EURO 449 and will be offered in Rocket 3/13.5°, 3/15° and 5/19° lofts. It's available in the Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Red 70 shafts, with numerous additional shaft options available at no additional cost. It comes stock with the Lamkin’s Crossline Black/Red Grip (50g).

Stealth Fairway Wood

This fairway offering is the ultimate combination of distance and forgiveness from TaylorMade.

TaylorMade Stealth Fwy & Hybrids

The new Stealth model features a new 3D carbon crown meaning weight has been shifted lower and and deeper in the clubhead. It has a larger profile than the Stealth Plus with a 190cc head (vs. 175cc) and a refined V Steel sole.

One of the standout changes in the new fairways is a new advancer laser alignment aid that stretches across the top of the face The laser-etched pattern delivers a subtle, yet powerful alignment tool. It was designed using optical engineering and player testing to deliver visual cues that influence alignment at address and how the club is delivered at impact.

Both Stealth fairway models feature Twist Face and a V Steel sole which promotes versatility and reduced turf drag.

The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket we've seen for a number of years now in TaylorMade products provides increased face flexibility, and preservation of ball speed, especially on low-face strikes for both Stealth Plus and Stealth fairways.

TaylorMade Stealth Fwy & Hybrids

Stealth has an RRP of £279 / EURO 359 and will be offered in lofts of 3/15°, 3HL/16.5°, 5/18°, 7/21° and 9/24°. The stock shaft offering is Fujikura Ventus Red FW 5/6, with numerous additional custom shaft options available at no additional cost. Stealth fairways come stock with Lamkin’s Crossline Black/Red Grip (50g).

Taylormade Stealth Rescue Hybrids

Stealth Plus+ Rescue

The new Stealth Plus is the better players hybrid option, and what TaylorMade refer to as a 'shot maker’s dream'. It features an iron-like high-toe profile and a compact footprint to make it easier for golfers to control trajectory and shot shape, while still offering more forgiveness than a long iron.

TaylorMade Stealth Fwy & Hybrids

TaylorMade have redesigned the V Steel sole positions weight low in the club to encourage optimal launch properties and enhance turf interaction. Stealth Plus also features an adjustable loft sleeve that provides +/- 1.5° loft adjustability to optimise trajectory.

Stealth Plus has an RRP of £249 / EURO 329 in lofts of 2/17°, 3/19.5° and 4/22°. It is available in the Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Red HY shaft, with numerous custom shaft options available at no additional cost. It comes stock with the Lamkin Crossline Black/Red Grip (50g).

Stealth Rescue

The Stealth Rescue combines a Tour-validated designs with a new carbon crown construction. This new carbon crown construction allows for the relocation of 7 grams (this is a lot in a fairway wood) to lower in the head to better position CG for easy launch, and higher forgiveness.

TaylorMade Stealth Fwy & Hybrids

The V Steel sole positions weight low in the club to encourage high launch and enhanced turf interaction, which TaylorMade claim makes this club a weapon from any lie on the golf course.

Stealth Rescue has an RRP of £229 / EURO 299 in lofts of 3/19°, 4/22°, 5/25°, 6/28° and 7/31°. It is available in the Fujikura Ventus Red shaft, with numerous custom shaft options available at no additional cost. It comes stock with the Lamkin’s Crossline Black/Red grip (48.5g).

As usual TaylorMade are making a tonne of claims about their new fairway and hybrid offerings for 2022. However one thing that consumers will question is why no carbon face? The big claim in the new [Stealth driver] is the 60x Carbon Face - it's bright red and really stands out.

If it's received well by golfers around the world in the driver, surely this is something we will see in TaylorMade fairways and hybrids very soon too...
