Ever feel like you're being followed?

If you are the owner of a Stewart X9 Follow trolley, you may get that feeling a lot. That is because the latest high-end electric trolley from Stewart Golf literally follows you around the course, thanks to built-in Bluetooth technology.

Hit your tee shot, put your driver back in your bag, put the handheld remote on your belt or back pocket and head on the down the fairway. The intuitive technology will follow close behind you as you stroll around the course.

So how exactly does it work?

The Stewart X9 Follow trolley has two antennas mounted on each of the rear motors. Together, these antennas create two distinct zones around the trolley: a neutral zone and an active zone. When the handheld remote is inside the neutral zone, the trolley will not move. When the remote (held by the golfer) enters the active zone, the electronic systems will automatically follow and alter the speed of the trolley to match the pace of the player.

Think about the operation as an elastic band. When you walk away from the trolley you stretch the connection between the the remote and the trolley, which in turn initiates the direction and speed of the trolley. If you slow down, the trolley will see that the remote has entered the neutral zone and stop by your side.

If you don't like being followed, you can switch the X9 Follow into remote mode. This action will stop the follow functionality and allow you to control the speed and direction of the trolley with the remote itself, using the buttons labelled here.

The remote works up to 50m, so if you are in deep rough, or wanting to send your bag to the next tee, you are able to do so in remote mode.

Alternatively, if you are in a car park or path and want to keep the trolley close to your side and in front of you, you can cradle the remote and control the trolley much like a standard electric trolley. In this mode, two different cruise control speeds can be created to match your speed when you walk.

You may be thinking "what if I walk down a steep hill?" Well, worry not. The Stewart X9 Follow features automatic downhill braking that applies additional braking force if you happen to wander down a slope.

Once you are done your round with the X9 Follow, simply remove your bag, unplug the 12v Lithium battery and fold the trolley down in one easy movement and store it in the back of your car. When folded the X9 Follow measures 66cm wide by 32cm high by 82cm long.

As well as all this technology, the Stewart X9 features a host of other additional features and storage including: scorecard holder, pencil and towel clips, ball holder, adjustable cradle, anti-rotation bag straps, integrated rear stabiliser and more.

If you decide to spend the £1,499 that the X9 Follow retails for, you will have your choice of four colours: British Racing Green, Pearlescent White, Metallic Black and Metallic Silver.
