Srixon has announced the introduction of its 5th generation of the Z-Star and Z-Star XV golf balls.
The latest incarnation offers golfers more distance, more spin and more consistency in the wind, factors that persuaded players like Hideki Matsuyama to put the ball into play ahead of his amazing end of year streak in which he amassed 4 victories and a second place in 5 events.
To celebrate the launch of the new Z-Star Series, Srixon Europe has also confirmed a new partnership with Prostate Cancer UK that will see the delivery of limited edition 15 ball pack that will include an additional sleeve of the new balls decorated with the iconic Prostate Cancer UK logo, giving golfers the chance to get even more experience of playing Srixon’s premium ball.
Srixon will also donate £1.50 for every dozen golf balls sold at trade to Prostate Cancer UK, helping to raise vital funds and awareness of the life-threatening male-specific disease.
Srixon Z-Star 2017
The latest Z-Star has a lower compression, "Super-Soft" Engergetic Gradient Growth Core, 88 compression compared to the previous generation of 90, that gives an even softer feel on all shots and improved launch conditions for more distance off the tee.
A urethane covered 3-piece ball, the new core in the 2017 Z-Star enables Srixon to vary core stiffness from soft to hard to maximise the energy transfer at impact, increase launch angle and lower driver spin for even more distance.
The EGG core is softer in the middle and becomes gradually harder towards the outer edge to maintain the soft feel whils still generating tremendous distance.
The latest ball has a new Spin Skin Coating that is 13% softer than the previous model to increase friction for even more spin. This combines with Srixon's proprietary 0.5mm, high-durability, ultra-thin urethane cover that contributes to the soft feel but is also highly durable and scuff resistant on wedge shots.
Performance in the wind has been improved with the powerful trajectory 338 dimple pattern that maintains ball speed an produces a more penetrating flight.
This utilises different dimple sizes to improve the relationship between uniformity and occupancy for a longer and more efficient flight. By decreasing the drag coefficient right after launch, it helps the ball travel through the air with less resistance and maintains ball speed. By increasing the lift coefficient after the ball reaches its apex, it helps the ball stay in the air longer to maximise distance.
Srixon Z-Star XV 2017
The new Z-Star XV is a 4-piece, 105 compression, ball built around a high-repulsion E.G.G large diameter dual core that increases ball speed and delivers higher launch and less driver spin.
The inner core has been made larger and softer than the previous generation ball that helps to decrease driver spin whilst the outer core has more consistent hardness that translates to increased ball speeds and higher launch.
Like the Z-Star the Z-Star XV has a new Spin Skin coating, ultra-thin 0.5mm urethane cover and the 338 speed dimple pattern.
