Honma Golf, who made headlines when they signed world number one Justin Rose in an equipment deal earlier this month, has added to it's range by launching a premium golf ball to be released in February.
The Honma TW-X, a 3-piece urethane distance ball, is aimed at golfers with driver swing speeds of around 90mph. Honma says it will provide them with ‘improved feel and extraordinary distance’.
Tony Scott, Head of Marketing at Honma Golf Europe said:
We’re really excited to be bringing such a premium golf ball to the European market. Given how well the TW-X ball performs, we feel that it’s a great product at a very competitive price point that golfers will be keen to try.
The ball features a high initial velocity NC core which is designed to produce greater ball speed whilst maintaining control around the green for the best of both worlds. Inside the ball, a new high repulsion mid-layer ensures low spin with the woods for longer tee shots.
There is also a soft urethane cover to help generate some extra spin around the greens, giving the golfers more confidence to be aggressive with their chipping and pitching if they do happen to miss the target.
The design, featuring a 326-dimple pattern, is geared towards generating that low penetrating ball flight that many golfers desire, especially in windy conditions.
The ball will be available from February and is priced very reasonably, despite Honma’s reputation for premium prices. At £26 per dozen, you're never going to break the bank using choosing this ball.
This again reinforces suspicions that Honma are putting in a real effort to break into the Western market and establish themselves as one of the big names. The ball joins their range of irons and woods, and comes hot on the heels of the coup of signing Justin Rose to a multi-year, 10 club equipment contract. Ones to watch.
