Low spin drivers were brought to the market to provide an option for those golfers with higher swing speeds who strike the ball consistently, and were looking to maximise ball speed and distance.

In the last few years though, improvements in driver technology have meant that these kind of drivers are now not only reserved for the best players, with a whole host of different golfers able to benefit from the performance that they provide.

Here at Golfalot we want to make life easier for those of you who may be thinking about putting a new low spin driver in the bag. So we rounded up the six best low spin options on the market that we've tested this year, and put them head to head!

TaylorMade Stealth Plus Driver

TaylorMade Stealth Plus Driver

Released: 04/01/2022

RRP As Reviewed: £499

Quick Hit: The Stealth's carbon face will steal the show, but the driver delivers distance and consistency and is already trusted by the likes of Tiger Woods on tour.

The Tech: The use of carbon saves 40% more weight than a titanium face, meaning it can be made larger and weight distributed elsewhere for better forgiveness and distance. A 10 gram sliding weight track on the sole provides adjustability to fine-tune ball flight.

Golfalot Says: "If it's ball speed you're after then the Stealth Plus delivers in a more workable head, although I did lose out on a bit of feel."

Srixon ZX7 Driver

Srixon ZX7 Driver

Released: 19/09/2020

RRP As Reviewed: £440

Quick Hit: After signing Brooks Koepka, Srixon set their sights on challenging the big boys with excellent ZX Drivers.

The Tech: A compact head shape with adjustable head weights allow for more fade and draw bias, whilst the Rebound Frame focuses on providing better energy transfer between the club and ball to produce more speed.

Golfalot Says: "The new ZX7 is a very competitive option which looks and feels good, and performs very well."

Callaway Rogue ST Max LS Driver

Callaway Rogue ST Max LS Driver

Released: 04/03/2022

RRP As Reviewed: £479

Quick Hit: Callaway's low-spin driver gets rid of the draw bias and would be far more playable than expected for lots of golfers.

The Tech: A Tungsten Speed Cartridge placed weight low and deep in the driver head to raise MOI and increase ball speed on off-centre strikes, with an AI designed face optimised to lower spin and raise ball speed.

Golfalot Says: "The forgiveness is still exceptional, and my dispersion was actually better with this head as I didn't miss any shots to the left. When you see low spin you automatically think that it is aimed at the better golfer, but I do think a mid to low handicapper could still use the LS head."

Ping G425 LST Driver

Ping G425 LST Driver

Released: 11/01/2022

RRP As Reviewed: £450

Quick Hit: Typical Ping forgiveness with fantastic looks and sneaky-long distance is an excellent option.

The Tech: A smaller, pear-shaped head reduces spin for a flatter, lower-launching trajectory aimed at faster swing speeds. A 17-gram weight can be set to Draw, Neutral or Fade to fit the desired ball flight.

Golfalot Says: "They’ve nailed the stability and are starting to find a few more yards too. It's a winning combination..."

Titleist TSi3 Driver

Titleist TSi3 Driver

Released: 15/10/2020

RRP As Reviewed: £519

Quick Hit: 18 months on and it's still the one to beat in terms of ball speed, distance and looks. A fantastic driver.

The Tech: The ATI 425 face increases ball speed at every point of contact, whilst improved aerodynamics lead to added club speed. SureFit CG track technology offers five unique positions to adjust the CG and fine-tune ball flight.

Golfalot Says: "The flight, height and strike were exactly what I was looking for in a driver. I felt the driver performed great but also looked great."

Cobra LTDx LS Driver

Cobra LTDx LS Driver

Released: 19/01/2022

RRP As Reviewed: £399

Quick Hit: Yet again Cobra produces a fantastic driver that performs as stated, and provides brilliant value for money.

The Tech: Cobra's lowest spinning driver features weight that is low and forward in the head for a lower, more penetrating flight, and a traditional shape allows improved workability. The Pwr-Cor technology sees a weight placed at the front of the head to lower spin and increase ball speed.

Golfalot Says: "I could easily see myself pegging up the LTDx LS as I didn't lose accuracy but gained yardage and saw an improved ball flight."
