Woll Golf Course

Woll is a great course, great views and really welcoming. Twenty of us recently had an outing there, the service and facilities were fantastic, we especially enjoyed the restaurant the food was excellent from our bacon roll and coffee in the morning to our lunch and dinner in the evening. We will definitely be back.

I went to play at Woll last week with a group of friends and had a great day there. We got a very friendly reception and then went out to play the course. The condition was excellent and it has matured a lot since I played it a few years ago. The greens are in very good condition - much better than many other courses.
I particularly liked the challenge of the 1st (dogleg over the burn) 4th which is in a beautiful little valley and the 16th which is a very demanding drive from a high tee. The 17th is a tricky iron shot over the pond. Altogether very well presented, and enjoyable to play.
Excellent restaurant and the service was great. It would be a really good place to come for a society outing.
I would highly recommend the Woll for a game. We will be back for another game soon.

We had a great outing at the Woll Golf Course, our ladies section enjoying both the course and restaurant with a golf package. The staff were very friendly and the clubhouse is one of the best we have visited on our annual outing. The course has matured since the first time I played and there were a lot of new ladies in our group playing it for the first time, everyone had a great time and commented that it had some magical holes. The whole setting was delightful and with the river to play over and a few ponds it certainly is quite tricky. We will be back.

Having seen a lot of marketing for Woll Golf Course, we were looking forward to it. Unfortunately, right from the off it disappointed. On arrival, they had no record of our booking despite having confirmed it by email. The lodge deals available meant that the course was absolutely heaving to the point where we were concerned we wouldn't finish in daylight. We were told they only have 5 trollies in total for hire and there were no holes cut in the practice green. They managed to squeeze us into a tee time and we then spent nearly 5 hours on the round. The front (and I believe newer) 9 was almost entirely unmemorable with holes shoe-horned in to fit making some of them very short. The back 9 is somewhat better, although there are probably only two really memorable holes on the course - the par 5 12th and the downhill par 4 16th. In general the greens at Woll golf course were rock hard with inconsistent grass coverage. As with most of the courses in the area, the scenery is stunning. However, we won't be back.
