Golf Course Says
The Scottish golf club maker Ben Sayers left his home by the sea on the east coast of Scotland to design the West Monmouthshire Golf Club in 1906. For a man so used to the links golf of his East Lothian he might be surprised or amused to learn that the course he built now sits proudly in the Guinness Book of Records as the higest course in Great Britain. The 14th hole is the highest the course reaches, some 1500 feet above sea level. For all its height West Monmouthshire Golf Club is actually a very pleasant course to walk with visitors constantly delighted by the wonderful views that greet every step. The golf is challenging but fair with the three par 3s some of the most challenging short holes you will play. With improvements constantly being made West Monmouthshire remains a wonderful source of pleasure for both members and visitors alike.
