Golf Course Says
The idea for a third course at Wentworth was first raised in the 1970's but it wasn't until 1990 that the first ball was struck on the Wentworth Edinburgh course. The course was designed by the powerhouse of the early days of the European Tour John Jacobs with a great deal of valuable input from the great Gary Player and Bernard Gallacher, for so long a fine ambassador for Wentworth. The course takes its inspiration from Harry Colt, designer of the two neighbouring courses Wentworth East and Wentworth West, and is a pleasure for golfers of mixed abilities. Jacobs took as his inspiration the words of the great Walter Hagen. "Never hurry," said Sir Walt, "never worry, and be sure to smell the flowers along the way." There are few courses where it is more pleasurable to heed that advice than the Wentworth Edinburgh golf course.

I always has the impression that the Edinburgh course was a poor relation to the West course, but I was pleasantly surprised. Apart from maybe the first and the last, which were a bit bland, the rest of the course was what you would expect from Wentworth. Lots of dog-leg holes through the trees and some great par-3s over water. If it wasn't next to the West course I am sure the Wentworth Edinburgh course would have a much higher profile.
