The Vale do Lobo Golf Resort Royal course was opened in 1997 after the celebrated American golf architect Rocky Roquemore developed the original drawings made by Sir Henry Cotton, the celebrated winner of three Open championships and, perhaps, the most revered English golfer of them all. The course has become the most celebrated of Algarvean layouts, a stunning championship course that sits alongside the best in Portugal and Europe. The green on the ninth, almost a complete island green, jostles with the 16th and its carry across the cliff tops as the most famous image of Vale do Lobo Royal and as the most famous symbol of the incredible golfing highlights on offer in Algarve.
