Devised by that most revered of English major winners, Sir Henry Cotton, and more recently given a facelift by the respected American architect Rocky Roquemore, Vale do Lobo Golf Resort Ocean course is one of the premier courses in Portugal. The course is based on the original two nine hole courses that Cotton designed at Vale do Lobo in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He had always designed the courses with the aim that they would one day be merged into one 18 hole challenge and this finally happened in 1995. Different from the Vale do Lobo Royal Course, the Ocean course demands a more thoughtful approach to the shaping of shots and is highly regarded by those who have played it. Look out in particular for the stunning Algarvean views on 11 and 14 and the par three 15th which runs alongside the beach. An established and revered part of the Algarve golfing establishment, Vale do Lobo Ocean is one of the premier courses in the region.
