Golf Course Says
Troon Lochgreen Golf Course is no ordinary municipal course and its heritage is perhaps measured by its history as a longstanding Open qualifying venue. Jack Nicklaus once took 82 here only to come roaring back the following day with a 68 to qualify by one shot. It remains a stern test and is the longest, and widely acknowledged as the best, of the three council owned courses that share this bit of Ayrshire links. The course is links but some stretches venture into parkland territory to increase the challenge and inject some variety. Troon Lochgreen Golf Course is a wonderful challenge and great chance for all golfers to play true championship links style golf without breaking the bank.

Troon Municipal Lochgreen is a fantastic links course. It may be a municipal course, but it’s in great condition, the greens are fantastic. I've played this course half a dozen or so times, in great weather and in gale force wind/rain and it's always been a pleasure. Great course.
