GreenFreeTorwoodlee Golf Course is a delightful parkland course which was designed by Willie Park. Set in peaceful woodland two of the holes on this picturesque course run along the banks of the River Gala.

Torwoodlee Golf Club feels like the extended 9-holer that it is. There are lots of places where you are at risk from other tees. On a number of occasions we had to look around to find out where the near misses had come from. The holes around the clubhouse are all somewhat flatter with more elevation changes coming on the ones across the bridge. The practice green was in very poor condition, although fortunately this wasn't indicative of the greens on the course itself which were quite good. Disappointingly, we were again told by a rather grumpy member to play off the yellow tees. Worst hole is probably the par 4 dogleg 11th. The dogleg is so immediate and severe you have to wait for the 9th green to clear before you can hit your tee shot. There are also a couple of par 3s at Torwoodlee that are too short. Best hole is the 14th, a lovely par 5 that gradually curves round to the right from an elevated tee and finishes down towards the river.
