Golf Course Says
Five minutes off the M3 Sunbury Golf Club is easily accessible from Walton, Weybridge, Shepperton, Ashford and Staines and is a well established and much admired 18 hole course than incorporate all the facilities required for an excellent day of golf. Sunbury Golf Club is proud to welcome all standards of golfers and visitors are welcome to use all the available facilities. The Sunbury golf course 9 hole layout is a mix of par 3s and par 4s which measures just over 2400 yards. It is the ideal place to learn the game or to get in a few holes without tackling a full 18. The course is normally quite quiet and booking is rarely required even at weekends. Sunbury Golf Club's 18 hole course is a longer and more challenging layout than the nine hole.

How very disappointing. Sunbury is only 5100 yards from the back tees, but the day I played it was so wet that the tee mats on around half the holes must have knocked another 500 yards off that distance. The greens were in very poor condition even allowing for the recent wet weather, particularly on the front 9 and there was a temporary green 40 yards short of the 18th green. It is always disappointing to find any course with par 3s under 100 yards long, never mind more than one. It is apparently reclaimed marsh land and that shows in the speed with which puddles form, both on the greens and the fairways. There are numerous par 4s that are, or almost are driveable. There feels like there is little variation in the holes and none stick in the memory. The back 9 is better than the front, but not by enough to make this worth a return visit.
