From almost every tee of Souillac Golf & Country Club’s beautiful course there are panoramic views of the surrounding French countryside. This is the only 18 hole golf course in the department of Lot (Midi-Pyrenees) and provides a truly fantastic golfing experience for golfers of all levels. The course, designed by golf course architect Jeremy Pern, is well known for its outstanding level of maintenance, with excellent greens and tree-lined fairways.
The official opening of the new 18 hole golf course took place in July 2003, under the watchful eyes of some of France's most popular Rugby icons, also keen golfers, who came over from nearby Toulouse for the occasion. Since then, the competitive teams of Souillac Golf & Country Club have started to spread their fame far beyond the Dordogne Valley and the South-West of France. Some of the club’s talented young golfers participated in the finals of the 2010 French national youth championship, with promising results. One young member of the club’s golf school has even been invited to join the Toulouse ‘Pôle d’Espoir’, an initiative from the French golfing federation (FFG) to help prepare the golf champions of the future. On 4 and 5 June 2011, the club will once again be hosting the Mérite Régional des Jeunes des Midi-Pyrénées, a very important competition for young French golfers, with over 100 participants. In July the region’s older generation of golfers will gather at the club to battle it out for the Midi-Pyrenees Senior Golf Championship.
Souillac Golf & Country Club has become a very popular destination for French and international golf associations and –societies in search of that ideal combination of leisurely golf and a great time. The local golf members are always happy to meet with other golf enthusiasts and to exchange tips and experiences. On 10,11 and 12 June 2011, the club will host the Joie de Vivre Privilege Tour for three days of fantastic golf and gourmet pleasures in the stunningly beautiful Dordogne Valley!
