Built on the stunning, apparently made for golf, landscape of the Quinta do Lago estate, San Lorenzo Golf Course opened in 1988 and since then has established itself irrefutably as one of the premier courses in the Algarve. The course was designed by Joseph Lee and takes great advantage of the Ria Formosa estuary and the salt water lagoons. The course opens and closes with a bang from the par five 1st (reach in two here and you'll be in a tiny minority) and the 18th which is regarded as one of the finishing holes in Europe as you fire across an expanse of water to a small green. San Lorenzo is a course that will live long in your memory. The course is service by the Dona Fillipa hotel and together San Lorenzo and Dona Filipa have been acclaimed as Europe's finest golfing resort.
