Golf Course Says
Rudding Park golf course welcomes members, visitors and corporate days alike to its woderful facility in the North of England offering an 18 hole golf course, driving range and 6 hole academy course. The par-72 Hawtree 18 hole course runs through the middle of the grounds of Rudding Park and has been designed by Martin Hawtree. The course moves through tree lined rolling fairways and is a quality test of golf.
Golfalot Review of Rudding Park Golf Hawtree Course
Rudding Park golf course is a typical resort style course that is set in the grounds of Rudding park amongst tree lined fairways. These and the sloping greens and the courses only defences as the bunkering, especially on the holes in front of the hotel is not much of a threat. The course is quite hilly, but the rolling fairways dont seem to make it a hard walk and the views around the middle of the course over the surrounding countryside were lovely. We played Rudding Park in July and the greens were excellent and provide a real challenge. The par-5s were generally also very good and with good tactical use of hedges and ditches across the fairway forced you to think carefully. There were also some very scenic par 3s at 5, 11 and 14 and a good halfway house where you can order your snacks in advance. The welcome in the Rudding Park clubhouse was friendly and the outdoor oatio made up for the glorified cabin style of the building. Overall a good venue for a fun game. Didn't play the 6 hole Repton short course next to the driving range but it looked fun, espcially the island green 5th.

GreenFreeWhilst Rudding Park Golf Course features just six bunkers, there are plenty of other natural obstacles! From water to numerous parkland trees, this 6,871 yard course proves a challenge for golfers of all standards.

It is true, Rudding Park offers a test of golf and any player on or around their handicap has played well. The course itself plays reasonably long with the shorter holes having far tougher approaches making up for the reduced difficulty. Superb finishing 5 holes which includes a lovely par three (14th) cut out of the forest, a long par five which bends along the tree line (16th) and an approach you will struggle to rival into the 17th par 4. A distinct lack of bunkers (Permission to build will not be given if the hole can be seen from the hotel) and three or four throw away holes prevents this course from being a "great" place to play golf. Despite that, you won't be dissapointed.

Rudding Park Golf Course offers a fair test of golf, with some excellent scenic holes. The club house and pro shop staff are friendly and welcoming to non-members. Recently there has been some significant investment in facilities, but the course has the higher green fee you expect with most "Hotel courses", which is to some extent justified. Any chance they might use the adjacent land to put in a championship 18? Then Rudding Park Golf Course would truly live up to its claim to be Yorkshires' premier! Overall this course weathers all four seasons well and on that basis deserves a 6/7 rating.
