Golf Course Says
The only course in Ireland to have hosted the Open Championship and consistently ranked as one of the very best golf courses in the world the Dunluce Links at Royal Portrush stands as a monument to both the enduring wonder of links golf and the enduring genius of Harry Colt as a course designer. The course is in the process of being extended - an inevitable "Tiger proofing" that no links course of such stature is able to avoid - but it remains of the truly inspiring tests of links golf.
Royal Portrush Dunluce Championship Links meanders through the rugged and inspiring links land and constantly tests the golfer with changes of direction and elevation. This is a course that demands concentration although the stunning scenery on offer on every hole will challenge you to keep your mind focussed on taming this great links. Look out for the par 3 14th - Calamity Corner - and the tee shot across a wide chasm, perhaps as awe inspiring and terrifying as links golf can get. Royal Portrush Golf Club is also home to less well known Valley Course but, for the experience golfer and lover of the game, the Dunluce Championship Links is the place that will still year heart. As the great Bernard Darwin wrote of Royal Portrush: "Mr HS Colt…has thereby built himself a monument more enduring than brass."

We played Royal Portrush on a typical windy day and found out the hard way why it is such a tough links course. Each hole requires you to think carefully about your approach and try not to be distracted by the great scenery around you. Playing the famous Calamity par-3 14th was the highlight of the day at Royal Portrush and hopefully I will be back there on my next trip.

Royal Portrush Golf Course is one of the best links course I've played. A great test of golf and with the wind blowing, as it was the day I played and I expect every other day. You need to be on your game or Royal Portrush Golf Course will eat you up. Came off the 18th knowing that I had been in a battle! Can not fault Royal Portrush Golf Course and the warm welcome and hospitality in the clubhouse made the day even more memorable.
