If any proof were needed over the quality of the links at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club then a look at the list of major events that it has hosted over the years will soon prove that this a top quality example of British Links golf. The Amateur Championship (six times), the Walker Cup, the Curtis Cup, the European Team Championship, the Home Internationals (eight times), the Vagliano Trophy, the Ladies British Open Amateur Championship, the Dunlop Masters, the Penfold and the Coral Classic.
Somewhat unusually for a links course there are no looming sand dunes at Royal Porthcawl so golfers can enjoy magnificent and unrivalled views of the sea from almost any vantage point on the course. Visitors are welcome and dormy accomodation is available.
