Golf Course Says
The West Course at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club was originally laid out to the west of the Old Course in 1889 as 9 holes for the Ashdown Forest and Tunbridge Wells Ladies Golf Club. Their Clubhouse, which was for some time next door to the now demolished Ashdown Hotel, is now a private residence known as 'The Old Golf House'. Over the years Royal Ashdown Forest's West Course was gradually improved and extended.

Media Reviews
Where2Golf.comExuding plenty of heathland and woodland charm and with many fine views, Royal Ashdown Forest golf course meanders around some beautiful rolling Sussex countryside. With long-ish carries from the tee boxes, and small heather-clad mounds providing good defences to many of the greens, the absence of any sand bunkers (due to local conservation laws) will not necessarily mean you are in for an easy time. At 249 yards for both men and women, the downhill par-3 11th is a bit of a monster, but it is just one more excellent hole in a truly great back-9; the front-9 is not too shabby either.
Todays GolferThe West is short but lots of timber and heather make it a tight test. Finding the greens is no easy task. You'll be happy to walk off the par 3 11th with a bogey.

The West course at Royal Ashdown is a test of straight playing golf with it's rolling hills. Shot selection and direction is a must for a easy second shot. I must agree with Micheal, The 18th at Royal Ashdown's west course is worth the green fee alone!

The West course at Royal Ashdown is a more gentle test of golf than the Old course. It's still played across rolling hills, but a little less climbing is involved. The tree lined fairways are reasonably generous and the finishing stretch from the 15th is excellent. The 18th at Royal Ashdown's west course is worth the green fee alone!
