Often overshadowed by the wonders of the South course, Quinta do Lago North is rarely overlooked by those in the know or those who appreciate just what a good course it is. The North course opened as a nine hole course designed by William Mitchell before another admired American architect, Joseph Lee assisted by Rocky Roquemore, completed the extension to 18 holes in 1989. Today Quinta do Lago is widely admired for the great condition it is maintained in throughout the year, for the quality of its four par five holes and for the variety of the challenges it offers. Many of the world's best players have played and enjoyed Quinta do Lago North.

We have played here for over 10 years and there have been nice improvements over that time. The management have now decided to add flower beds to areas around the tees instead of spending the same money to improve the golf course - what a waste of money, they add little and merely add to the cost of maintenance. There are some long walks between some holes so buggy is recommended. The 3rd fairway is still a little unfair as even the best drive will end up in the rough on the right.
Care, expect a slow round (4.5 hours) if you get a tee time after a members competition.
