Golf Course Says
A real mixture of both classic links and parkland Pwllheli Golf Club is a real star of the North Wales golfing scene. The course opened in 1900 and has since enjoyed an enduring appeal for visitors to the area. The first nine holes were extended to the present day 18 by five times Open champion James Braid and that most famous and intriguing of Welsh politicians, David Lloyd George, performed the honours at the opening ceremony for the full 18 holes in 1909. The course is pleasantly flat making it an ideal course for all ages and all abilities, with the men's tees measuring just over 6100 yards. Pwllheli Golf Club has been the proud venue of a number of national events and was one of only seven Welsh clubs to be included in a poll of the 200 best courses in the UK. Pwllheli Golf Club has, for all its rich heritage, one strange claim to fame: The clubhouse is closer to the sea than any other clubhouse in the UK. Daily rates for visitors are available.
Media Reviews
GreenFreePwllheli Golf Course is an interesting mix of parklands and sealinks with a couple of quite exceptional golf holes to be enjoyed. The clubhouse is reputed to be the closest to a beach in the British Isles.
