Golf Course Says
Prestonfield Golf Club is just a mile or so away from the centre of Edinburgh and is set in the shadow of Arthur's Seat. The course has hosted a number of events and is widely regarded as being one the most testing but fair tracks in Edinburgh.

GreenFreePrestonfield Golf Course lies under the lee of Arthur's Seat whose bold crags allow a kaleidoscopic display of colour when they are lit up by the evening sun. It is laid out in part of the former beautiful park of Prestonfield House, and only along its western boundary does it touch the fringe of the modern city.

Prestonfield is a typical city golf course. The best holes are probably the 2nd and 3rd. Both are difficult to judge and the OB down the left of 3 gets your attention. Thereafter it is a bit back and forth with some more interesting holes at 14-16 through the trees. Prestonfield is not very inspiring, but a nice clubhouse rebuilt in 2004 and great views of Arthurs Seat.

Prestonfield Golf Course is set in an ideal location for a visitor. In the middle of Edinburgh under Arthurs Seat, if your game is not on, you will still enjoy the round. However, I have never been a fan of the course. Prestonfield Golf Course is made up of 18 pretty uninspired golf holes. No real attractive holes or holes that really make you think. This is due to limited space, but still the course does not inspire. Prestonfield does not do justice to the standard of golf in Edinburgh.

New clubhouse at Prestonfield Golf Club is very impressive but the course lets the whole place down. Very flat and boring. It just keeps going back and forth on a flat field. The first few hole are OK with the par 5 third down the hill the best on the course but then you come to the flat field and all the enthusiasm you had for the course is sucked out of you. You do get some great views of Arthurs Seat from Prestonfield Golf Club though.
