Golf Course Says
One of the best public courses in the country Pine Ridge Golf Club is the ideal place for both low and high handicappers to enjoy a round of golf. Built through a pine forest the course is one of the most picturesque in the region and the well designed holes and gentle undulations make Pine Ridge golf course a pleasure to play and an easy walking course. Facilities include an extensive clubhouse complete with bowling alleys and function rooms and a 36 bay driving range.

When you first play Pine Ridge you might feel disappointed on the first few holes. Not that they were poor but they are flat and boring. But that feeling doesn't last long, pass through the gate and cross the public walkway that separates the course and get ready for the challenge. Undulating greens, doglegs and fairways that require a degree of accuracy. A couple of things about the course really disappointed us. Pine ridge does not offer membership. What you do get is pay a yearly fee and get a discounted green fee of £4.00. This is a classic case of a fantastic course ruined by mismanagement. We found the course very popular amongst the pay and play golfers, so when it comes to playing on the weekends be prepared for a long wait on some of the tee boxes as there are no starters nor marshals to keep play up to speed. It seemed that the main aim of the management was to get as many players on the course as possible. Value for money for a society package was reasonable. £38.00 bought you coffee and toast on arrival, 18 holes of golf and a 3 course dinner. Not really what you need after playing golf for 4 hours. But with that put aside the food and service was of a good standard. Off course that facilities can be described as good. A 36 bay undercover driving range with automatic ball teeing and a putting green. What it misses is a practice chipping area and bunker. The shop was well stocked and the staff behind it were excellent. Upstairs for those that still had energy was a 6 lane bowling alley.
