Golf Course Says
El Saler is ranked the 6th best course in Europe and 2nd in Spain, after Valderrama. Only the rather average standards of upkeep might spoil the joys of savouring one of Europe's best courses. The links holes (5 to 9 and 16 to 18) compare favourably with the best courses in the UK, to which architect Javier Arana has paid tribute throughout the El Saler layout.
The other holes are equally attractive and wend their way through woodland. There are a number of holes that feature blind greens and hazards, typical of courses that are built amongst the dunes. The greens are often huge and the slopes hard to read. Naturally, playing to your handicap on a course of this standard can pose problems, as it takes every shot in the book, particularly when the wind is blowing. However losing to a course like this can be a pleasure.
