Founded in 1910 and laid out over land owned by the Earl of Strafford who was the club’s first president, the Old Fold Manor Golf Club in Hertfordshire is built on the site of the bloody battle of Barnet that decided the War of the Roses in 1471. Media Reviews
GreenFreeOld Ford Manor Golf Club, founded in 1910 by the Earl of Strafford, is one of the finest 18-hole courses in Hertfordshire - a heathland course with breathtaking views over the surrounding area. The Late Georgian Grade II listed clubhouse offers excellent bar and restaurant facilities.
Where2Golf.comOn the highest point on the Great North Road between London and York, is this easy-draining, gently-undulating parkland course. The good drainage is courtesy of an old "fold" of sand and gravel on which the course is based, which also explains the slightly heath land feel on parts of the course and the wonderful links-like bumps and hollows on the fairways. Most of the holes at Old Fold Manor are pleasantly tree-lined, some tight, others giving the driver a chance to shine. The sting here is definitely in the tail, with two long par-4's to finish, and an old manor house moat to navigate before reaching the 18th green. A busy course and pleasant outing in North London.
