Opened in 2008 the Oceanico O'Connor Course in Amendoeira is the perfect addition to a stable of course that already includes the Faldo Course. After a long career as one Ireland's favourite golfers Christy O'Connor Junior is fast becoming one of the leading course designers on the continent and the Oceanico O'Connor Course is a welcome addition to his growing portfolio. Keen to reflect the best of the Algarve in his design O'Connor has created a fifth hole that is lined with orange groves. Water comes into play at the 7th, 8th and 9th - the O'Connor Course's own version of Augusta's Amen Corner. The lakes and streams that make the course so stunningly spectacular are looked after as wildlife reserves adding to the splendour of the O'Connor Course.

A joy to play! A must for all levels of golfer, has the thumbs up from me and the other 13 guys in my group. A lot of water but very playable. Good greens that accept a well hit shot. Large to so plenty of safe green to hit you can’t attack some of the tighter pins. Large bunkers everywhere. A couple of scruffy holes but on the hole a very good course, well designed but don’t leave anything in the clubhouse. At the rune you will be miles away from it. We all agreed that of the two courses on the impressive estate we would only play this one again. Well done to Mr O’Connor for that you single figure player, as well as your high handicapper, can really enjoy.
