Media Reviews
Where2Golf.comWithout doubt, Newport is one of the pleasantest of the inland parkland golf courses in South Wales, and is surely one of the best layouts. The course is located some 300 ft above sea level on an inland plateau, providing beautiful views onto the surrounding hills of North Gwent. The Newport course is laid out among the birch, beech and oak trees of the Llwyni Wood which surrounds much of the course. The gentle slopes and undulations provide a varied and thoroughly interesting topography, with a more open aspect to the front-nine, and some of the best holes coming on the more wooded back-nine. The use of steep-faced grass bunkers, rather than fairway sand-traps, reinforces the natural feel of the course. Upkeep is generally very good, not least on the excellent greens.
