Golf Course Says
Formerly known as Newcastle United Workmen's Golf Club, Newcastle United Golf Club has nothing to do with the football club of the same known although many of the Black and White Army's most treasured heroes have enjoyed golf on the course. Indeed the golf club was formed back in 1892, before the football club that came to define the city had claimed the name. Newcastle United golf course was laid out by Tom Morris Senior - old Tom being as prolific as he was famous back in the 1890's. The course is popular with both visitors and members and has all the facilities expected of a modern course. The pro shop, called the Golf and Gossip Shop, is not only well stocked with equipment but also a never ending source of natter and laughter. The 18 holes to stretch to over 6600 yards and have a par of 72 from the white tees.
