Golf Course Says
Moffat Golf Club's location in the tourist town of Moffat, just a mile or so off the M74 makes it the perfect spot for a day trip, weekend visit or as the first or final playing destination on a Scottish golfing trip. The moorland 18 hole course took on its present form when Ben Sayers was invited to design the course. Sayers made much of the beautiful natural landscape and the course appears a natural part of the surrounding countryside. The course is often regarded as one of the best inland courses in Scotland and is truly "the jewel of the south."

II can't say enough good things about Moffat GC. I first played the course in 1997 and have returned six or seven times since. The only thing to change is the prices which have gone up about two pouunds since my first round there 9 years ago. Baring in mind that the course is not long enough or in and amongst enough land to be a huge tournament/resort venue it scores a near perfect. It is a small friendly course which has some stunning views and golf holes to match. The staff are hugely friendly from the minute you arrive. The course itself is not massively long or difficult but still extremely enjoyable. The wide variety of tee boxes, greens and approaches make each hole different but equally interesting. The par three 9th will be remembered forever and features in a number of "the uks most interesting golf holes" type books. Faced with a cliff you can be given for wondering where you should take aim. After a few minutes you will notice a small black and white marker post on the top, the course map reveals the green is 10 yards over the lip of the cliff. Take aim and hope it doesn't finish back at your feet. Incredible views, different and exciting golf holes make Moffat a fantastic place to play golf. Baring in mind Moffat is a small friendly golf club, not a resort tournament venue only a few short easy holes keeps it from scoring top marks.
