Golf Course Says
Shorter than the neighbouring East Course the James Braid designed Marriott Dalmahoy West Course remains a true challenge of golf with a par of 68. Any golfer who still feels that is a lesser course as the round wears on might well get their comeuppance over the closing holes where the bubbling waters of the Gogar Burn lie in wait for the errant shots.

Having just played this course last month (May) whilst on a short break staying at the Marriot, I have to say it is a lot easier than the East Course with very wide fairways. The course is in fine condition and the people very friendly in the clubhouse. The best hole was the Par 3 16th over the stream. There are good Par 4's but I would have to say not very challenging as I shot my 2nd best round this year. If you're looking to have a good game and increase your confidence then you must play here if you are anywhere near Edinburgh.

The Dalmahoy West course is the little brother to the East and is good fun. Much shorter it has lots of out of bounds and plenty of bunkers. Some good par-4s, especially around the middle of the course. The 15th and 16th, which you see as you arrive, are probably the best on the course. Greens are usually very good and the practise facilities are excellent. Worth a game, but given the choice I would play the East first.
