Golf Course Says
Donald Steele designed and opened in 1991 the Marriott Breadsall Priory Golf & Country Club Moorland Course is a less stern challenge than its sibling, the Priory Course, and is seen in the area as not only one of the best courses around but also one of the fairest. Accuracy is required because the rough is fearsome but most golfers will enjoy this wonderful piece of the Derbyshire countryside. Excellent drainage keep the Breadsall Priory Moorland Course open for golf throughout the year.

Todays GolferTwo super 18 holes. Moorland takes over at this time of year and never uses temporary tees or greens.

I played the Moorland Course at Marriot Breadsall Priory Golf Club, on a Sunday afternoon, which, is classed as Breadsall Priory's second course. Despite a soggy August and the fact that the course is attached to a Hotel, hence, it will not have the same opportunity to be rested in times of adverse weather, as paying guests on Golfing breaks expect to be able to play; I found Marriot Breadsall Priory Golf Course was in excellent condition. The fairways were well mown and the greens lush and fast, with a natural slope making them a challenge to read.
The only criticism I can find is not of the course, but of the Management Team and that is that the tee times are far too close at 7 minute intervals. The first hole is a Par 3, so anyone following has to wait for the green to be clear before teeing off and 7 minutes is just not enough time, which, meant that every hole was backed up and the round took over 5 hours!
