Once very private but now open to visitors, Marbella Golf Club is a difficult but enjoyable challenge. It's a typical Robert Trent Jones design, with sweeping fairways, lots of shrewdly placed bunkers and large, undulating greens. The opening holes are especially hilly and are crossed by ravines and gullies that demand accurate and brave tee-shots. The par 3 4th is just tee and green, with nothing in between but what the locals call 'bandit country'. A good course, but probably not one for high handicappers.

I played this course 8 times during August 2008, I found it to be tight on some fairways so tight that it would test the best driver of the little white ball. The greens were fantastic and the scenery amazing. The 9th and 18th share the same large green. A few of the tees are from elevated positions giving an amazing feeling and view. Cost per round was 45 Euros and it was a price worth paying. Each hole is a challenge. The whole course is very good. Clubhouse is beautiful inside and out, pro-shop was average, quite expensive,but so is golf gear all over Spain. Food is very good and price is good. Beverages are also good and well priced. Sitting out on the large patio with a beer watching the sun go down over the 18th and Med is well worth it.
