The Earl of Mar golf course at the Mar Hall Hotel is a Dave Thomas designed layout that opened for play in the Spring of 2010. Situated just outside Glasgow on the banks of the River Clyde, Mar Hall offers spectacular views of the estuary and the Kilpatrick Hills.
Mar Hill and the Earl of Mar course offer a five star golfing experience within easy reach of Glasgow and the course has been much admired as the latest example of world class, championship courses in Scotland. all designed by Thomas, the man behind The Belfry and La Manga.
Having shaped the course around established trees - including some 250 year old sweet chestnuts - Thomas has created a brand new golf course that already has a feeling of permanence. Look out to for the well placed bunkers as you make your way round.

I played this course in January and was thoroughly impressed with the condition for this time of year. In my experience I have usually had to play a links course at this time of year to find decent greens, but this course was in fantastic condition. There were no damp patchess anywhere on the course and the greens were fantastic. It looks like this course could be an alternative to links courses for playability 12 months of the year. I'll definitely be back.
