Golf Course Says
The Waterfall Course at Mannings Heath Golf Club is one of two fine 18 hole championship layouts. The original course, the Waterfall was opened in 1904 and is a wonderfully mature parkland layout that offers a real challenge to players of all abilities. With many mature trees lining the fairways the golfer is given a sense of seclusion as well as a test of accuracy and the undulating terrain, streams and fine greens all add to this superb test.

Mannings Heath Golf Club is very lucky to have the advantages of an established Club founded in 1905. Set in 500 acres, beside a designated area of outstanding beauty, it offers two superb 18-hole courses to challenge the most experienced golfer. The Waterfall course, which is nearly one hundred years old, is renowned for its established fairways and greens, fringed by trees with meandering Goldings stream cutting across or bordering eleven holes. The famous par threes - Waterfall and Punchbowl, have both been admired by many of golf's prestigious players. The Kingfisher course opened in 1996, and having different characteristics fully complements the Waterfall course. With panoramic views, the greens and tees are of modern USGA construction and while visually more open is not to be taken for granted. The clubhouse, Fullers, is a restored and extended country house. It has two bars, a restaurant serving first-class food and superb conference and banqueting facilities, which makes it the ideal venue for business and pleasure.
Despite many changes from its original 1905 layout, the Mannings Heath golf course still has to follow the hilly contours of the lovely South Downs. With wide-ish fairways, some crossing streams and a mix of wooded and more open terrain, variety is what you get here. There are some fabulous holes, particularly the par-3 10th (Waterfall) and the par-4 11th (Valley). If the greens were as well maintained as the tee-boxes and fairways a higher rating could be in order. Look out for the memorial plaque to a crashed World War II RAF bomber at the 14th.
Mannings Heath Golf Club has two very good courses here, the older Waterfall and the young pretender Kingfisher. The rumour is that, in time, the Kingfisher will take over as the premier course. The course is always well maintained and in very good condition. Both have a good mixture of holes. Perhaps the Waterfall has one or two weak holes but not so as to affect the enjoyment. The practice ground has real grass to practice from. The clubhouse at Mannings Heath Golf Club is wonderful and the welcome superb. The staff are always courteous and well trained. Mannings Heath Golf Club offers an excellent all-round experience.
