Golf Course Says
Since 1893 Lothianburn Golf Club has occupied a wonderful site at the bottom of the Pentland Hills, only minutes to the south of Edinburgh. The course is one of six that form the James Braid Trail in the Lothians. The course is well known throughout the area for the quality of its greens. Visitors can look out over Edinburgh's famous skyline and on towards the Firth of Forth as they contend with two tricky par 5's and some exquisite short par 4s. The 18 hole Lothianburn Golf Club measures just under 6000 yards and has a par of 71.

GreenFreeSituated to the SW of Edinburgh on the lower slopes of the Pentland Hills, Lothianburn Golf Course rises from the clubhouse approx 300ft to its highest point at the 13th green. Magnificent views of the city and surrounding district. Each hole at Lothianburn Golf Club is a different challenge.

The greens at Lothianburn Golf Course are excellent and amongst the best in the city of Edinburgh. This is mainly due to the course being on the side of the Pentlands, which does mean that it is a bit of a climb for the first 9 holes, most of which is steady stuff as the course zig zags it's way up, so you don't feel it is too bad for the first 8 holes. All the way up Lothianburn Golf Course, the views back over Edinburgh are fantastic and there are a lot of good holes. Your sidehill lie skills will be severly tested and some holes, especially on the back nine, require some imagination with the direction of the tee shots. Lothianburn Golf Course is a fun course to play which is always in good condition, but maybe take up the offer of the buggy!

Lace up your hiking boots and pack enough food for a few days, and you will be ready to take on the heights of Lothianburn Golf Course. Set on the side of the Pentland Hills, Lothianburn Golf Course travels uphill downhill and across hills. With many testing lies and interesting holes Lothianburn Golf Course is a testing course...for a fit golfer! I thought the last three holes spoilt the course a little though.

If you have one leg shorter than the other then Lothianburn Golf Course is the course for you. It's very hilly and you always seem to have a side hill lie. Once you get to the top of Lothianburn Golf Course the view from the 14th tee over the city of Edinburgh makes the climb worth it. Greens were it great condition but not my type of course. Friendly and warm clubhouse.
