GreenFreeLanark golf club is believed to be the 25th oldest golf club in the world and celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2001.This moorland course is renowned for its beautiful scenery and excellent fast greens. It has played host to the regional qualifier for the open championship on 12 occasions during the past 25 years.

Lanark is a tough test for most golfers especially if the wind gets up but what do you expect from an open qualifier! Lanark is always in lovely condition due to its location on Lanark Moor with the greens being particularly good, firm and true. The 6th hole is not my cup of tea, however the 18th is a tough par 3 finish and watch out for the clubhouse which is located right of the green!

Lanark Golf Course is a very good Open qualifying course. Plays shorter than the yardage suggests. However the problems is hitting the greens as some are difficult targets and even more difficult is 2 putting if you hit the wrong part. Lanark Golf Course proves a good test, well worth a vist.
