La Serena Golf Course was designed by Manuel Pinero, well known as one of the trailblazers of the Spanish invasion of the European Tour. Pinero won nine times on the Tour, claimed two World Cup wins and twice battled for Europe in the Ryder Cup. Still active on the European Seniors circuit Pinero's design at La Serena reflects his own game: accuracy and a fine short game are the essential weapons for survivng La Serena. The course has water on 16 of the 18 holes and strategy and course management are vitally important.
