Golf Course Says
Kingsknowe Golf Club, with a perfect rural, woodland location on the western fringe of Edinburgh, was designed by Alec Herd in 1908 before being overhauled by the great course architect James Braid in the 1920's. Cherry tree lined fairways and rolling ground are the hallmarks of this wonderful parkland course. Kingsknowe is rightly famed for its doglegs and the signature hole is the 16th hole, a par four measuring 460 yards.

GreenFreeThe 104 acres of Kingsknowe golf courses is laid out over and through the valleys of gently rolling hills on which Oliver Cromwell's army gathered to bombard Redhall Castle in 1650. The hills now define the picturesque cherry tree-lined fairways from which the mindful golfer must propel his ball to the well-guarded and relatively small greens.

Kingsknowe golf club is a good layout that is normally best to play in the summer months. The first 5 holes are very good and there are some good closing holes from 15-17 too. The Kingsknowe greens are usually good and overall it is an above average course for Edinburgh.

Kingsknowe Golf Course opens with a par three and continues to have odd holes throughout. Usually in lush condition was fairly decent greens, it is actually a surprisingly good layout. Kingsknowe Golf Club may be worth the visit if you have a spare day in the capital.

Kingsknowe Golf Club is a decent track with a couple of good holes on both nines. The two best in my mind being the 5th, which is a long tough par 4 that doglegs right up a hill and the 16th. Another par 4 from an elevated tee that doglegs left. Both holes need two very good shots to reach the green. Kingsknowe Golf Course was in Okay condition but the greens were very slow. It did however have a very relaxed and friendly clubhouse with good food.
