Often called the "best nine holes I've ever played" by awestruck visitors the Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club Hillhouse Course is not an additional nine holes tagged on to fill space. These nine holes formed half of the original course at the historic old links and in that role they hosted some of the major events in the Home of Golf. Today the Hillhouse course is often enjoyed as part of 27 holes played in one day. At 2888 yards and with a par of 34 the Kilmarnock (Barassie) Hillhouse course is a cut above the average nine hole course.
