Golf Course Says
Golf has been played in Killarney Golf Club since 1891, originally on a nine hole inland course. Then in 1939 it was expanded to an 18 hole course. The expansion brought Killarney Golf Course to the lakeside and added outstanding beauty. The Mahony's Point Course at Killarney Golf Club is a superb course, situated beside the famous lakes of Killarney, is a good test for golfers of all skill levels. At 6164 metres Mahoneys Point is the shortest of our three courses, but with a combination of well undulated greens, well positioned bunkers and water hazards, wayward shots will often find big trouble.

Media Reviews
Where2Golf.comAs on the neighbouring Killeen course, the ever present views of Macgillycuddy's Reeks (mountains) and Lough Leane give this course a wonderful aura of natural beauty. However, you may be left with a longing for more holes played beside the lake, like the par-4 17th, and the exquisite and very photogenic long par-3 18th. Most of the Killarney Mahonys Point golf course is set back from the lake and has a parkland/heathland feel to it - fairly open, with gorse and small copses of fir trees providing good definition to the holes. After the bruising your golfing pride will inevitably take on the seaside links courses hereabouts, you'll find it a relief to play a more traditional parkland layout with a bit of room for manoeuvre off the tees. The very gently undulating terrain at Mahonys Point is not at all tiring, and you may even get the chance to admire a passing deer or two, as they quietly go on their way, seemingly unconcerned by the golf.
