The latest addition to Killarney Golf Club, Lackabane is still in its infancy but is already proving to be quite a challenge. At 6410 metres it is of championship standards.The designof the Lackabane course at Killarney Golf Club is fantastic. With lakes and streams running through the course, it adds to the beauty and also adds a lot of danger to crooked shots. Killarney Golf Club's Lackabane Course is very different to Killeen and Mahony's Point but has just as much to offer.

Where2Golf.comThis newest addition to the existing 36-holes at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club doesn’t share the same Lough Leane lakeside environment as its two elder sisters (the Killeen and Mahony's Point courses). The Lackabane therefore has its own character, first making use of open parkland, then running through a picturesque valley before arriving in an open and linksy domain where the majority of holes are located. Deep rough, gorse bushes, a small lake and a babbling brook all add to the variety of hazards and difficulties expertly introduced by designer Donald Steel. However, Steel was not responsible for the ruin that lies just after the 7th green. Although the Lackabane will be regarded as No.3 amongst the Killarney G&FC triumvirate, it is a good and testing layout, and like the Killeen, stretches to over 7,000 yards from the back tees.
