Where2Golf.comPlayed in the grounds of and around the splendid Kilkea Castle (a mere 800 years old ) the golf course is somewhat newer and has considerably fewer defences. The Kilkea Castle layout is relatively straightforward covering the flattish terrain which surrounds the castle, with much tree-planting yet to mature. The back-nine is the more testing of the two. An attractive burn (the River Griese) runs across the course, spicing-up at least six of the holes and making the par-4 17th a really formidable proposition, especially for anyone keen on making par. All-in-all Kilkea Castle is a pleasant place to play under the watching towers and turrets of the impressive castle.
