Golf Course Says
Since 1919 Gleneagle's Kings Course has been considered a true test by some of the biggest names in golf. James Braid's hope was that the course could challenge even the very best and so it has proved with each shot selection absolutely crucial as the approach at the first, with the wind playing havoc with distance, proves. "Het Girdle" (Hot Pan), the par three 5th hole, has a green that is guarded by trouble on all sides while the par-4 17th has ruined many a round.

Where2Golf.comAlthough Gleneagles Kings Course is not able to contain the long-hitting professionals any more (they tend to use the PGA Centenary course for big events) this is still the King of the Perthshire hills. Braid’s magnificent layout has endured the test of time, to provide an excellent parkland setting that meanders its way over the rolling terrain that surrounds the sumptuous Gleneagles Hotel. Perhaps one would say a few holes are short and some quirky, but overall this is a course that relates more to your heart than your head, especially if fine weather is giving you clear views onto the surrounding hills - Scotland at its best !

Can't disagree that this is one of the most beautiful courses I have had the privilege to play but I found the greens very difficult as they were very quick but quite bumpy. Someone later told me that this was because they spend 3 months under snow. However this was mid June! Some fantastic holes but quite an undulating and at times hilly course. Worth a visit if you have run out of ideas but i have to say that its not good value in my opinion. Boat of Garten would be a better bet!

Gleneagles Kings Course is a great old course that proves that you don't need a 7,500 yard course to be testing. From the first tee to the last you will enjoy this course. In great condition and greens to die for. Can't think of one bad hole and I could be here all day telling you about the good holes. Most of them are numbered between 1 and 18. Gleneagles Kings Course offers a great day out with superb food in the Dormy house next to 18 green.
