Although not spectacular in terms of layout or scenery, Fulford is nonetheless a very pleasurable course to play. Over flat terrain, there are more than occasional hints of some great heath land courses, though here the description "wooded parkland" is probably more applicable - with a fine array of trees, notably silver birch, lining each of the fairways. The first five and last five holes are separated from the rest of the course by the busy York ring-road, but apart from the walk over the footbridge, the Fulford course is in all other respects a seamless continuation of excellent quality holes. A special mention for the top quality greens, perhaps the toughest thing to read on the course.
