Golf Course Says
James Braid was tasked with designing Fortrose and Rosemarkie Golf Club and used all his resourcefulness to lay out 18 fine holes in the tight Chanonry Peninsula. Many visiting journalists consider this to be the finest of all the Highland Course. At 5890 yards off the white tees there are longer courses but the greens are tricky and bunkers are well placed. And the road that cuts across the course provides the golfer with yet another pyschological obstacle. Few who play Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club ever forget the fourth hole (Lighthouse) a shortish par five that is a true challenge of fortitude or Icehouse, the par three 5th that can require a light wedge or a full three iron depending on the wind.

One of the most 'fun' courses i have played in Scotland. Not too long at around 5,700 yards but when the wind blows..watch out, she has a nasty bite. Situated on a spite of land at the end of Fortrose out into the Moray Firth, there are stunning views across the forth to Inverness and Fort George. An excellent little course if you dont feel like a slog and wish to 'engage brain' round this lovely track. 3 iron for the first 3 holes.... 3 very tight gorse lined opening par 4s. The 5th hole is a par three and this can be anything from a sand wedge to a 4 iron. The back nine is your opportunity to make up what you lost on the front nine.... Highly Recommended.
