Golf Course Says Course architect Bruce Devlin has harnessed all his experience to produce a truly memorable golfing experience on the headland to produce the Fairmount St Andrews Kittocks Course (formerly Fairmont St Andrews Devlin Course). The newness of the course means it has stayed a largely unearthed treasure but being chosen as 2010 Open Qualifying venue is proof of how well the course has matured in such a small space of time. The course clings to the typically imposing Fife coast and the beautifully maintained fairways and greens travers the man made hazards on the first four holes before rising up Kittocks Den to afford panoramic views of the sea. Fairmont St Andrews Kittocks Course is a wonderful and welcome addition to the Home of Golf.

Golfalot Review of Fairmont St Andrews Kittocks Course For a new course this is in excellent condition and a great layout. It has finely balanced the need to look like a links course with all the modern design features of a new course. Unusually for a new course there are no holes that are weak and just 'added in' to make up the numbers. Into the wind, the 18th will really test you from the back tees to the back pin position! The views from every hole are amazing over the North Sea towards St Andrews and the hills behind. The perfectly situated clubhouse means you can continue to enjoy them with your post-match drink. Well worth a visit!
Media Reviews Where2Golf.comOccasionally a tract of natural, unspoilt land beside the sea comes available, and a great designer gets to sculpt a course that everyone immediately raves about. Such is the case with the Devlin golf course at St Andrews Bay. The first 5 holes are tricky enough, with water in play from the curving par-4 2nd. After crossing the gorge at the long par-4 6th (you'll re-cross it later at the 14th), the stunning sea views arrive with the ridge-back par-5 7th and never leave until you've holed out at the par-3 18th. Most of the time you'll only have the sea for company, and the splendid variety of sea-birds - oh, and any other golfers on the course, but that's it - no habitations, no roads, no factories - just you, golf and nature. Enjoyment guaranteed!

Set in a perfect location, the Devlin course at St Andrews Bay Resort is a treat. Great course with immaculate greens and fairways. Loads of variety in the holes, the phrase 'no two holes are alike' does not do it justice. Every shot in the bag is tested, whilst taking in some spectacular scenary. Thought the 17th would have made a good finishing hole, but the Devlin is a great course and with a 2 Fore 1 deal it is worth the money. | Dave Garlant | 4 stars out of 5 | 17/03/2005 |
What can you say about the Devlin course at St Andrews Bay? It's frankly superb. Played it last October and it was in magnificent shape, both fairways and greens, which made up for the biting wind, which is to be expected at that time of year. Views across St Andrews Bay to the town are just as majestic as the golf course, which can only serve to inspire you to play good golf. It was the last leg of a four-day trip for me, and I definitely saved the best for last. It was definitely the course. Moulded fairways, sleek greens, strategically placed sand and rough, The Devlin Course at St Andrews Bay is a quality golf course. One slight gripe was the barren feel on a couple of holes which bordered farmland at the top end of the course, while the 18th was a little bit of an anti-climax after some excellent closing holes. But that really is nit-picking. Excellent facilities too. The Devlin Course earns every one of its five stars. | Martin Hopley | 4 stars out of 5 | 22/02/2005 |
Before I had even stepped on the 1st tee I knew The Devlin Course at St Andrews Bay was going to be a great course. Even in February the greens were in fantastic summer condition - smooth and lightening fast. The layout of the course was very good with great views across the sea and over the other holes on the back nine from the front nine. They have moved a lot of earth but it does not look too artificial at all. No hole at The Devlin Course at St Andrews Baywas weak and I liked the 9th and 11th where bunkers and rough spilt two fairways and you had to make a choice with your tee shot. The par-3 18th will be a real card wrecker off the back and I loved the fact the wall immediately behind the green was not OB so you had to play over it. My only criticisms are that the 14th could do with a footbridge over the gully and the walks between green and tee a generally too long, but I guess that is how they design them now. Clubhouse at The Devlin Course was amazing with fantastic views and unfortunately prices to match, but for a one-off it didn't matter as the round was so enjoyable. | Drew Tuck | 3 stars out of 5 | 27/10/2004 |
The Devlin Course at St Andrews Bay is a great course which is let down by a couple of poor par 3's. The 8th seemed to be added in once they found out that they only had 17 holes and the 18th lets the whole course down and makes you leave with a bad taste in your mouth. Apart from these two holes it is a great course and well worth playing. The Devlin Course at St Andrews Bay great condition and even though it is part of the St Andrews Bay Hotel resort you are made very welcome and the food in the clubhouse in 5 star.
